I have been following the discussion on excessive messages and admit
that this one contributes to the alleged problem. Consider these
    thoughts...

    - If all 900 members send a message on excessive messages that the list
server distributes to all 900 members, then there are 810,000 messages
floating around in cyberspace on the same subject.

    - I regret that when I could take short courses on various software
programs for free, I was "too busy" to do so. Now, I have the
inestimable privilege of paying for them myself. I deeply regret being
"too busy" in the past, because each course I take makes me more aware
of the weeks and months I wasted by not taking a one day course and
learning the shortcuts. I thought that I could teach myself. I sure
was wrong! Take courses in your word processing, graphics, and
communication programs while you can. You will be glad you did!

    - Set your communications software to thread messages of the same
subject and use the delete key on the threads you are not interested
    in.

    - One thing we all can do to reduce the volume is instead of hitting
reply and typing a few words agreeing with or commending the writer and
shooting them to all 900 members, send out thoughts only to the writer,
    not the whole list.

One last thought. THANKS to all of you who do write! I have gotten
constructive ideas, referrals, links to first class web sites, and
opposing views to my own thoughts from this list. Perhaps I am not just
reading interesting mail. Perhaps I am reading toward a Doctorate of
    Listology!
