One of our list members recently sent three messages to make the point that
this list is voluminous. The member had a total of six lines of input but
transmitted 110 lines while saying her six lines because she repeated all
the other messages to which she was agreeing. If you want less volume, one
good way is to --- snip --- out the unnecesary stuff.

HEAR HEAR - Thank you! I hope people will heed your good advice, Jack.

On any list, reading through the stuff you really want should be as easy as
possible. Aside from a good Subject line, one way to make that a reality is
for the webmaster to put a separator at the end of each message so they
don't run together. This will make it easier to discern where old messages
    end and new ones begin.

If the webmaster can't do it, then individual contributors can by adding a
blank line at the end of their sig or after the last line of their message.

Maybe now folks will have the wherewithal to take responsibility for the
*process* quality as well as the *substance* quality of their own
contributions -- which will lead to a better list overall...

    Thanks,

    John
