BUSINESS AND SOCIETY AND RELATED ORGANIZATION STUDIES
Tenure Track Assistant Professor Position
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Management at Bucknell University seeks a
full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor with a maximum of three
years credit toward tenure to teach regularly scheduled
upper-division undergraduate courses in business & society and
organization studies beginning in Fall 2004. Business & society
classes may be positioned as social issues in management, business
politics, business ethics, or other similarly scoped course
offerings. Organization studies may comprise organization theory,
organization development, organizational behavior, human resource
management, labor process studies, business and economic history, or
other related areas. In addition, to help staffing needs during
faculty leaves, the individual would occasionally teach other
introductory management courses and courses in management research
methods. Other undergraduate teaching opportunities exist, including
foundation seminars for first-year students, interdisciplinary
courses, and capstone experience courses open to both majors and
non-majors. The department encourages the teaching of management as a
liberal art and encourages social, historical, alternative, and
critical perspectives on management and organizations. A developing
program of high quality research in business & society, organization
studies, or a related area is required. Full-time organizational or
managerial experience, as well as a record of excellence in
undergraduate teaching, is highly desirable. Qualified candidates
will have completed the Ph.D. or equivalent; ABDs will be considered.
Salary is competitive, commensurate with experience.
