Raising Consciousness By Games
Dear Members of the MG-ED-DV,
-----------------------------
in the tradition of the brothers Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, who
gave us that wonderful book of fairy-tales in the 19.century,
we plan to do a collection of little simple games that aim at
raising consciousness in a playful way. If you like to support
this task, we would appreciate to receive your example(s) according
to the form specified below. Whoever makes a contribution may get
the complete list later.

Here are two examples, just to show what "GAMES" could look like:
Number ONE
*************************************************************************
Name of the game: Dominicans
Focus on: Loss of information in everyday talks
How to play: First player makes a statement.
Second player must repeat literally.
Third player says yes or no whether the
repetition was correct.
* If no, the first player has to repeat his own
statement.
* If yes, the second player continues the
conversation. Then the first player (or the next
in row) has to repeat that new part as literally
as possible before he/she adds another part.
This can be modified by letting the conversation
become more and more casual as long as each new
part will be checked before the conversation
goes on.
What to learn: People very soon find out that you can only
understand and repeat a certain amount of
information and only if you listen intensely and
don't start to answer "internally" while
the other is still talking.
They realize how few of what they say usually
gets through to the other(s).
Gain: This may change your talking and listening
abilities profoundly.
**************************************************************************
Number TWO
**************************************************************************
Name of the game: Personal Identification
Focus on: Analog self-description
How to play: You provide a list of "categories" like:
Animals, Plants, Minerals, Household Items etc.
Then all players, one by one, are asked to
identify themselves by choosing one
representative of each of those categories.
If you request them to describe the
qualities of that representative, you may get
a good self-description of that player
sometimes not even "known" to him-/herself.
E.g. Animals: "As an animal I would like to be
... A TIGER. A tiger is ... strong and ferocious
..."
What to learn: Insight into one's own ability to think
analogically. To understand parallels between
things, as you perceive them, and your own
nature.
Gain: Understanding of players' self-concept
Feed-back from other players
