don't like low vision or blindness, can anyone tell me if there is a
support group that is on the internet for people like that???
I know a few that could realy use a group like that to cope with the
low vision and blindness in there life .

Re: support for the blind, contact Steven Maranville at the University of
St. Thomas in Houston, TX. His e-mail address is: maran@basil.stthom.edu

Steve is a remarkable individual, a professor at UST, an excellent teacher,
with a Ph.D. in management from the University of Utah -- and he's also
blind. In the three years I knew Steve while he was completing his
doctoral studies at Utah, I never once heard him complain about his
blindness, never saw him depressed, never saw him making excuses or asking
for special consideration. I'm sure there were some difficult days and
weeks and moments for Steve, but his wonderfully positive attitude is what
one sees when interacting with him and his students love him. Give Steve a
call or send him an e-mail and I'm sure he'll share a few thoughts with you
on what keeps him going. I'm sending this message to the list, rather than
just to "Willie," because others on the list may also not know where to
turn with students and colleagues who are blind and who need help.

    Best,
