    Ken,
I thoroughly agree. This is another pox wrought by Bill Gates and his band
    of code spritzers.

This gibberish seems to be generated by attachment of word-processed
documents to text postings to our list. Most recently this was a
WordPerfect attachment of a bibliography. My Mg-Ed-Dv subscription is set
to get each posting individualy rather than the once daily digest option and
I did not directly encounter this problem much less frequently than people
like Ken. Perhaps it afflicts those with the digest option
disproportionately. What I recommend is that if you have something that you
must send as an attachment, don't post it directly to the list. Rather,
post a description of the item and suggest that interested people contact
you directly for the item. This would have the added benefit of providing
you with a sort of contact with interested people that might be nice. If
you get inundated with requests, you might discuss the numbers with me and I
might recommend directly posting the entire document to the Mg-Ed-Dv.
Anyone who has more technical insight into this problem or a solution to it
    please let us know.
