In response to Stew Friedman's "Serious Virus Warning" posted on July 8.
Please note that you CANNOT get a virus from an e-mail message,
regardless of its subject line. The only way you can get a virus through
e-mail is by executing a file attachment that may be included in an
e-mail message (a *.exe file). "WIN A HOLIDAY" is a famous "HOAX" on the
Internet along with "RETURNED MAIL" or "UNABLE TO DELIVER" or
"BUDDYLIST.ZIP" or "DEEYENDA" or "PENPAL GREETINGS" or a number of
others. Almost always these messages, which are forwarded relentlessly,
ask those receiving the message to forward it again to as many people as
they know. That's a tell-tale giveaway! For further information on "WIN
A HOLIDAY," I encourage you to look at
http://www.stiller.com/holiday.htm. You can also check out pretty much
every Internet hoax and myth there is at
http://kumite.com/myths/myths/. Also, The Mining Company keeps an
archive of Internet hoaxes and myths. You can access it at
http://urbanlegends.miningco.com then click on "Current Net Hoaxes." The
"WIN A HOLIDAY" hoax (a copy of "JOIN THE CREW" from 1997) is listed
    there.

It's good to stay advised of this information as the growth of the
    Internet continues exponentially.
