The Information Systems Research Unit at Warwick Business School
Invites you to a workshop with Professor M Lynne Markus of the Peter F.
Drucker Graduate School, Claremont Graduate University on
KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT-ESSAYS AND ASSAYS
Monday 10th July 2000
2.00 - 4.30p.m.
At the MBA Teaching Centre, University of Warwick, Coventry.
Knowledge management is one of the most popular research topics today.
Knowledge management is a great umbrella term for many traditional and
current interests in the Information Systems field, including individual and
group decision support, data mining, and intelligent agents, as well as new
organizational forms, virtual teams, electronic communication technology and
groupware, reengineering, and IT-enabled organizational change. As a
result, the topic of knowledge management has the potential to unifying
divergent interests in the IS field. At the same time, there is the
legitimate concern that knowledge management is all things to all people.
Consequently, it may lack the coherent intellectual core needed for a
cumulative research tradition.
This session is designed to provide an opportunity for IS scholars to
discuss the potential of knowledge management as a unifying theme for the
IS field or even as a productive domain of IS research. To get the ball
rolling, Professor Markus will briefly describe three research projects she
classifies as knowledge management. Then there will be an open forum in
which others can describe their own research in this area and their
critiques of IS knowledge management research.
There is no charge for attending this workshop. However, if you would like
to attend, you must reserve a place by sending an e-mail giving your name
and affiliation to
