Why do some of the MG-ED-DV digests come this way (see below)? I have to
save or open using NotePad instead of being able to read when I open my
e-mail program (which is Outlook). This only happens once or twice a
week, so I suspect the post is coming from a location (moderator's
home???) through an ISP that does not support IMS.

    Tom,
I believe that attachments often cause problems. It is better to have a
long text than to add attachments when posting to Mg-Ed-Dv because of such
problems. I recommend that everyone use the very latest version of their
browser to handle html and other dimensions of email that are increasingly
    considered normal.

Tom - I share your frustration - except that for many of them we don't
have any method of decoding the messages. It's only common courtesy to
send messages in a format the recipients can read them. Accordingly, when
this happens, I generally simply delete them.

If the sender doesn't want most of us to read them, then I feel no
obligation to go to the trouble of trying to decode them. It's an
imposition to require the recipient to decode them - if your system has
its quirks, learn to live with them and send messages in plain language.
