Dear Colleagues:
If the application of open systems theory at work, in training
events or organizational consultancy are issues for you, clients or
students, the following will be of interest. The Midwest Center, A.K.
Rice Institute is sponsoring an Advanced Application Workshop.
Applicants submit a brief escription of an unresolved
organizational or consultancy problem to be used when they are in the
consultee (client) role.
Earl Braxton, Ph.D. and Edward Klein, Ph.D. have designed an
exciting training sequence; each participant has the opportunity to
use the consultee and member (observer) roles to facilitate learning
about the consultancy role. Learning is enhanced by focusing on these
three roles and getting feedback from the faculty. Participants
rotate in the consultee role presenting the unresolved case, the
consultant role to the client and the member (observer) role. The
focus will be on the application of role analysis and open systems
theory in understanding the unresolved case. Faculty will provide
public coaching/consultation to client and consultant.
This course is designed for 12 people who have participated in
an experienced based learning model, including but not limited to, an
A.K.Rice sponsored conference, and/or have done role analysis work.
Others may be admitted at the discretion of the faculty based on
comparable experience.
This course is offered to individuals who wish to learn about the
relationship of theory to practice and the member (observer), client and
consultant roles. If you know of anyone who is interested in the study of
applied systems dynamics in organizational, training and clinical settings,
please bring this to their attention.
Training begins at 2:00p.m. on Friday, December 11 and ends at
3:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 13, 1998. Sessions will be held at the
Duncan Center, Delray Beach, Florida. The fee is $695 which includes
room, board, tuition and all materials. For additional information or
brochures please phone Janice G. Brewington, Ph.D. at 336-273-4070 or
FAX her at 336-334-7637.
