The Educational Technology Expertise Center at the Open University of the
Netherlands and the Department of Educational Development and Research at
the University of Maastricht are looking for:
Two PhD candidates for full time four year research positions
(researcher-in-training position)
As researcher-in-training you carry out PhD research on "Knowledge sharing
and decision making in collaborative multidisciplinary teams with
(a)synchronous computer-mediated environments" sponsored by NWO, the Dutch
Scientific Organisation (NWO 014-43-704).
This project is divided into two subprojects that are related, but are also
fully fledged research projects in themselves. Subproject 1 will primarily
focus on the cognitive and social demands of teams of multidisciplinary
professionals to develop, use and share different types of knowledge for
solving complex problems. Subproject 2 will primarily address the issue of
the requirements of electronic environments for constructing and/or sharing
knowledge. The value-added of linking both sub-projects is the insight into
the requirements of and the conditions for an IT tool to facilitate the
processes of the (co)development, (re)use and sharing of knowledge by
professional teams to solve complex problems.
Requirements
Master's degree, preferably in education, educational psychology or business
economics (HRM/HRD-specialisation) for project 1, and in education,
educational technology or knowledge engineering for project 2. Interest
and/or experience with empirical and/or design oriented research. The
ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Salary
f 2.998,- gross per month in the first year growing to f 4.281,- gross per
month in the fourth year. The appointment is temporary for the period of
four years and should lead to a PhD thesis. The approximate starting date is
May 2001.
