From Cartoon to Management Theory-Missed Opportunities

The recent New Yorker magazine (Feb 19 & 26) has several delightful
    "opportunity-related' cartoons.

My favorite is the one on page 78.

A dejected ice-fisherman is sitting over "his" hole in the ice, waiting for
a fish to bite. Yet behind him, fish are literally jumping out of other
holes, but he doesn't notice them. He's too focused on his single
    tried-and-true hole....no caption needed

[mg-ed-dv editor's note: The New Yorker is available online now
http://www.newyorker.com/ and its cartoons are available at:
http://cartoonbank.com/ This is a great place to find cartoons by typing in
keywords. Indeed to find the one that Walter is chatting up go to this site
and use the search keywords "ice fishing" and it pops right up. The urls of
the cartoons are quite long but I assume can be popped onto your syllabi
etc. for students to be taken to the New Yorker site to view them for free.
The New Yorker site does not lend itself to copying graphics for pirated
    use, though.]

One picture is worth a dozen or two management concepts !!

    1) managing your opportunity portfolio,
    2) management points-of view,
    3) opportunity strategy,
    4) failure of long-term strategic planning,
    5) change management
    6) missed opportunities
    7) managing opportunity windows
    8) opportunity barriers --management mindset
    9) importance of opportunity leadership
    10) issues management
    11) opportunity selection
    12) opportunity audits etc
    13) opportunities in a recession etc
    14) lessons learned from failed opportunity spaces
    15) difference between problems vs opportunities
    16) designing new opportunity spaces
    17) spotting new opportunity spaces
    18) competitive intelligence

    A) what else can you think of ?
    B) what else does this cartoon suggest?
