Of course, in business, items developed on company time and equipment are
normally considered the property of the employer. In fact, when I joined
Checkpoint, which has extensive R&D efforts, I signed a paper to that effect.
Perhaps this is one area where the "corporate cultures" of business and
academia are at opposite poles.
