Would you like to know how an organization that has been global for more
than two centuries trains its expatriate managers?
Will you be in Washington for the Academy of Management Conference this
summer?
If you answered 'yes' to both of these questions, then you should register
for the pre-conference workshop "Why Does The Foreign Service Institute Have
A Jail?" During this three-hour session that will be held at the U.S.
Department of State's Foreign Service Institute on Friday, August 3 from
1:00-4:00 PM, you will:
* Tour the campus of the Foreign Service Institute and see classrooms,
multimedia labs, gaming rooms, teleconferencing studios, the library, and -
of course - the jail!
* Participate in a panel discussion of expatriate management
development at the U.S. Department of State. Learn about the Department's
competency-based leadership and management training continuum from the
people who developed it.
* Enjoy a wine and cheese reception with the staff of the Foreign
Service Institute and other Department of State employees.
* Learn the REAL reason why the Foreign Service Institute has a jail!
This professional development workshop is expected to fill early. To
register now while slots are still available, please send an e-mail with
your name, title, and organizational affiliation to Bill Weech at
WeechWA@state.gov. Note: There is a cost of $10.00 to participate in this
workshop.
