    Position Announcement: Strategic Management and Leadership

    University of Houston

    Position:

    The Department of Management in the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the
    University of Houston is recruiting for a full-time tenure-track faculty
    position in the area of Strategic Management beginning in August 2002. Rank
    for this position is open, and includes the potential of an endowed position
    for senior faculty. Along with teaching strategy courses at the graduate
    level, the ideal candidate would also have the capability to teach courses
    in international business. Senior faculty would be expected to contribute to
    the newly funded Bauer Center for Business Leadership and in executive
    education programs. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester.
    Summer support is available for the first two years, and salary is
    competitive.

    Qualifications:

    We are seeking outstanding individuals who are assured of completing their
    dissertation from an AACSB-accredited institution prior to starting in the
    position, and who possess strong research capabilities, excellent teaching
    skills, and the willingness to be a supportive colleague.

    General Information:

    The City of Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States, and its
    wide range of racial and ethnic groups makes it richly diverse and
    cosmopolitan. This diversity extends to the economic environment as well, as
    the emphasis on energy-related businesses has expanded due to tremendous
    growth in high technology industries, medicine and health care, and
    professional services. Houston also is home to the corporate headquarters of
    many firms, including 15 of the Fortune 500 companies. The University of
    Houston is the largest and only doctoral-degree granting university in the
    University of Houston System. The university serves over 30,000 students in
    14 colleges, with over 40 research centers and institutes, and sponsors more
    than 300 partnerships with corporate, civic and governmental entities. The
    College of Business Administration has the largest enrollment of the 14
    colleges, with more than 4,000 undergraduates, over 1,000 MBAs (200+ in
    executive programs), and more than 50 Ph.D. students. The College is
    AACSB-accredited and offers degrees in management, marketing, accounting,
