Dear Management Education and Development Reader,
INFORMING SCIENCE 2002 + IT EDUCATION CONFERENCE
I invite you to nominate colleagues, including yourself, to serve as
track chair for the Informing Science + IT Education Conference that
will meet in Cork, Ireland June 19-21 2002. In addition to other topics
relating to informing clients using IT, the conference is particularly
interested in hosting tracks on the various issues in IT and management
education.
The conference website is
http://is2002.com .
If you might be interested, please do read the quotes from delegates to
IS2001. The quotes can be found at
http://is2002.com/quotes.htm.
ROLE OF THE TRACK CHAIR
Paper reviewing for the 2002 conference will be conducted online and so
the task of track chairs will be less challenging and more rewarding.
The role of the track chairs will be as follows:
1) Solicit quality manuscripts for their tracks, both from friends who
are currently researching in the area of the track and, via
advertisements, from researchers new to the field,
2) Serve as the primary reviewer for each paper submitted to the track,
and
3) Provide a list of volunteer reviewers for papers in your track.
This means that the track chair will no longer have the tedious task of
assembling and providing feedback to all those who submitted papers to
the track. Our paper review software will perform this chore.
FEE REDUCTIONS FOR ACTIVE TRACK CHAIRS
To acknowledge and thank those track chairs who exert the greatest
energies to create another excellent conference, the conference will
provide honoraria.
Every track that receives ten or more submissions will earn $100 in
reduced conference fees. The fee reduction may be applied to the
conference fee or other conference expenses, such as extra banquet
tickets. (If two or more people co-chair a track, they can decide how to
split their fee reduction.) Papers submitted by the track chair(s) to
their own track do not count toward the ten submissions needed to earn
the fee reduction.
In addition, every reviewer (including track chairs) who completes at
least three constructive reviews on time will receive $25 in fee
reduction.
Further, every author of an accepted paper earns a $25 reduction in
conference fees.
In summary, an active track chair who also submits an accepted paper
will be acknowledged with a total of $150 in conference fee reductions.
I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding your nominations.
All the best,
-eli
