Aldemir,
Requests for copies should be sent to Bill Ferris
at
bferris@kraken.mvnet.wnec.edu .
Also I would like to highly recommend the Journal of
Management Development as the best place to publish and read
management development articles. Jim Stoner and myself have
published there and our endorsements are strong ones.

Assunto: BEST PAPER IN MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT
For more than a decade the JOURNAL OF MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT,
published by EMERALD has sponsored the
BEST PAPER IN MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT award of the Academy of
Management Management Education and Development Division (MED).
Many winning papers have been published over the years in
this journal dedicated to cutting-edge research on
management development. The winning paper for 2001 Academy of
Management meeting in Washington is:
WILLIAM FERRIS of Western New England College, Springfield, MA, USA
for his paper "AN INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUE TO ENHANCE TEAMBUILDING: THE
IMPACT OF IMAGE THEATRE." The paper describes how "Image Theatre"
methodology originated by Augusto Boal, an internationally
acclaimed Brazilian stage director and author, was used as a
revolutionary training tool to enhance teambuilding in industry.
Ferris refers to an intervention with a leading software and business
solution company. All members of the organization - including the CEO -
were involved in creating tableaus (a non-verbal, static pose) in which they
physically attempted to represent a model of their real relationships with
each other. Photographs were used to record the tableaus and feedback was
collated from each team member.
The various possible meanings of the tableaus were later discussed and
subsequently served as a blueprint for the teambuilding intervention, which
took place over a period of eighteen months. Pre- and post-test assessments
showed statistically significant progress in virtually every item.
"The award for Best Paper in Management Development often identifies novel
approaches to enhancing managerial effectiveness. This year's award winner
offers innovative exercises to help team members surface their perceptions
and
concerns. We are most grateful for Emerald's continued support of this
award" noted James A. F. Stoner (Fordham U.), Chairman of the MED Division.
Chris Perry, Managing Editor of the Journal of Management Development added
"Emerald is committed to the principle of management excellence and we are
pleased to support the work of the management research community. William
P. Ferris is a deserving winner of this year's Best Paper award."
This paper will be presented in session 907, Wednesday, Aug 8th,
8:30AM-10:20AM
at Hilton Washington & Towers in the Military Room.
Dr. Ferris will be presented with $500 dollars and a plaque for the MED Best
Paper
award on Tuesday 7th August, at the MED Divisional business meeting, 5PM in
the
Military Room of the Hilton Washington and Towers Hotel.
Conference attendees are invited to visit Emerald at booth to see the
