Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Dean, College of Business Administration, University of Houston.
The University of Houston is a comprehensive research university closely linked to the Houston metropolitan area. Our diverse student population exceeds 32,000, including some 7,000 graduate and professional students. The University of Houston is the only doctoral-granting institution within the University of Houston System and has annual sponsored research expenditures in excess of $40 million.
The College of Business Administration is accredited by AACSB, has a full-time faculty of 80 and an enrollment of 4,100 undergraduates and 1,300 graduate students. It offers the only Ph.D. in Business in the city of Houston. The five academic departments include Accountancy and Taxation, Decision and Information Sciences, Finance, Management, and Marketing and Entrepreneurship. The college offers the Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, Master of Business Administration, Executive M.B.A., and Ph.D. In addition to the five departments, the college has the Center for Executive Development and Small Business Development Center, as well as 10 centers for advanced study and research in areas such as international business and entrepreneurship.
The Dean is the Chief Executive Officer of the college and reports directly to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. We seek a person with the following qualifications:
- § Demonstrated leadership ability and administrative experience.
- § Demonstrated ability to develop external support from a vigorous business community such as Houstons.
- § Ability to advance the vision and needs of the college.
- § Productive interaction and communication with internal and external constituents of the college.
- § Demonstrated leadership and insight regarding the role of information technology for both academic and administrative support.
- § Ability to advance educational, research, and service initiatives with organizations and universities throughout the world.
