There is a vacancy for a Reader in Organizational Behaviour/ Human
Resource Management at the University of Portsmouth Business School,
within the Department of Business and Management. This is a permanent
position.
Readerships in the UK are intended for applicants who have an
established research and publication record, usually also holding a
doctorate. The natural progression from a Readership to to a Chair.
The position is therefore research focused, but some teaching will be
required.
Applicants from any sub-discipline within OB/ HRM are welcomed. The
closing date for applications is the 19th October 1998.
Portsmouth is a maritime town on the South Coast of England, with a
strong naval tradition. It lies approximately 80 miles west of
London. The former Portsmouth Polytechnic became a university in 1992
and currently serves some 17 000 students on three campus sites. The
Business School offers a wide range of management and business
related programmes, at undergraduate and postraduate level, full time
and part time. We are increasingly attracting a large proportion of
EU and overseas students, and have franchise arrangements with
countries including Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The Business
School is set on a very pretty campus,and has a friendly, informal
atmosphere. We are also well provided for as regards IT - all
students and staff have e-mail accounts, and access to the Internet,
as well as access to the University PC network. We are also working
to develop our Intranet as a teaching resource.
