Assistant Professor, International Human Resource Development
The Department of Human Resource Education (HRE) in the College of
Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) seeks
qualified candidates for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor
level. The UIUC HRE department ranks among the top five departments in the
country and has been recognized as the 1998 HRD Program of the Year by the
Academy of Human Resource Development. The department has two major fields
of study, Human Resource Development and Community College Leadership, and
currently enrolls about 150 master's and doctoral students. The mission of
the HRE department is to provide global leadership in the generation and
transmission of knowledge for educational training and development; to
provide professional preparation in development of research, teaching, and
leadership capabilities of individuals and organizations; and to provide
quality professional services to public and private organizations and
agencies interested in life-long learning at local, state, national, and

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Assistant Professor in Human Resource Education (HRE) with a
specialization in international Human Resource Development (HRD)
STARTING DATE: August 2l, l999
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should have:
o an earned doctorate from an accredited institution.
o a record of scholarly productivity exhibited through research,
publication and grant activities in international human resource
development.
o professional experience in international settings.
o expertise and experience in one or more of the following specializations:
teaching
and learning, technology, organizational/leadership development, or assessment
and evaluation.
RANK: This is a regular, full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The responsibilities of this position in HRE, with a
specialization in international HRD, include:
o teach graduate professional courses in International Human Resource
Development which will include international aspects of teaching and
learning, instructional technology, organizational/leadership development,
or assessment and evaluation.
o plan and implement a program of research related to international HRD.
o facilitate activities relating to international HRD within the HRE
Department and within the College of Education.
o serve as a liaison between the Department/College and the campus Office
of International Programs and Studies.
o promote international HRD outreach, extension services, and distance
learning for international populations.
o advise master's and doctoral level students in the department.
o establish relationships between the HRE Department and private/public
organizations interested in international HRD.
o serve on department, college, and campus committees.
o establish and maintain affiliation with at least one campus international
center.
o play an active role in international professional organizations.
SALARY: Competitive, depending on scholarly record and experience.
