Hi all -
Please pardon it if you receive duplicate messages from different
lists. :-)
I've heard of the "book-ends" approach, in which entering students
in all management/business majors are required to take a beginning course,
generally in their Freshman year, which has as major objectives (perhaps
in addition to the customary orientation objectives) some of the
following:
- introduction to the whole field of business/management
- becoming familiar with the terminology of the various functional areas
- beginning work in interdisciplinary situations and cases
- early learning to talk and write about business subjects
- socialization into the business school
- the early chance to verify their choice of programs (before the junior
year)
- some knowledge of the final integrative objective of their curricula
I'm thinking of the beginning courses at Boston Univ., Western Ontario,
Suffolk Univ., Susquehanna U, and Skidmore. What I'm looking for is:
who else does this kind of course?
and who would be willing to share information with me?
thanks for attending to this request, Tim
