    Hi

You might be interested in participating in a discussion I am trying to start
with a recent posting by me at the free internet Leadership in Management
conference. The conference can be accessed at:
    http://www.mcb.co.uk/services/conferen/sept98/lim/

Below is the posting so you can look at it without signing in on the
conference - though we'd love to have you sign on and contribute your
    thoughts.

    Best wishes for the holidays

    Erwin (Rausch)

    ***********************************
    From Servant-Leader to Learner/Coach/Leader

Would any of our presenters, delegates or visitors care to explore the idea
that the most successful leaders of the future will step beyond
tranformational and servant leadership to be Learner/Coach/Leaders.

What do I mean by that term? Leaders who are learners and coaches, leaders of
learners and coaches, or learning leaders who lead learners and coaches? All
three! It is my hypothesis, and I have developed some literature support for
it, that leaders of the future, to be most effective, must stimulate learning
and coaching by members of the team, and be lifelong learners and effective
coaches themselves. To do so, and in addition, they need to apply all the
decision skills that I discuss in my paper on this site, entitled: A New
    Paradigm for Leadership Developent.

A serious discussion of the Learner/Coach/Leader concept might bring some
interesting conclusions and probably lead to an initial brief joint paper
which could possibly be published in the special issue of Career Development
International in which the Proceedings of this conference will be published.
It might later be expanded for publication elsewhere.

Dear Erwin, Thanks for thinking of me. I am going to pass the message
along to one of my Ph.D. Students, Mark Hoelscher, who is writing a paper
for my collegue, James G. (Jerry) Hunt on Stewardship. As you may know,
while I dabble in leadership (Book chapters/articles on Charismatic
leadership, Stratified Systems Theory, Competing Values, Upper Echelon
Theory, etc), Jerry, as Editor of Leadership Quarterly is fully immersed in
the subject. Jeery's email is: ODJGH@TTACS.TTU.EDU. You might wish to
    contact me directly as well.

    Regards, Kim Boal
