    Hello,

I am a doctoral candidate in the depths of my dissertation proposal
    writing.
The topic is: External Leadership of Project Teams. In particular,
    the
tools and behaviors of the faculty person in providing leadership to the
project teams in their business courses which require group project
    work.

As part of the dissertation I am developing a toolset of templates and
instructions for the faculty and for the students. I have searched for
all of the toolsets in business and academic research. However, I
suspect (because I have my own that I use when I teach), that there are
more tools in use out there and there might be a best practice tool in
use by one of you that just hasn't been empirically tested yet.

I am considering making the toolset available for use from a website on
the request that the assessments are used and submitted so that I can
include the results in my results database. (Might not be in the
    dissertation,
since it would be an uncontrolled population). Would anyone be
    interested
in using such a site? The idea is for the toolset to be useable
    without
requiring course time to use it. It will be structured for use by
    either online or face-to-face classes.

If anyone has a tool and instruction they currently use that they feel
is being very effective and that they are willing to share, I would
appreciate the opportunity of including it in the development of the
toolset that will be used in the dissertation testing.

If there is an element of the project team process that you wish
somebody would include in a cohesive test, I'd appreciate hearing about
that. Included so far is: team assignment, vision, project definition
(scope), task assignment, establishing rules and norms, establishing
communications, progress reviewing / conflict resolution, progress
    reporting, assessment / grading.

I appreciate any information anyone is willing to share

Conna Condon asked for examples of instructions on group work; The
Teaching & Learning Services group at Lincoln University have a 'best
practices' guide at http://learn.lincoln.ac.nz/groupwork/ that might
include useful ideas. It may be copyright, so if you want to use parts
of it, contact TLS via the e-mail address on the website.

Thank you so much ... Wow!

The kind of guidance Lincoln U. is providing to their faculty is exactly
the kind of information I am looking for.

I promise to respect the copyrights, to call, and to cite as well.

    Thank you,

    Conna

Does anyone have any favourite sites for information and advice to students
    embarking upon research?

I am using Marilyn K. Simon and J. Bruce Francis, The Dissertation
Cookbook: From Soup to Nuts a Practical Guide to Start and Complete Your
    Dissertation, 3rd edition (August 2001)
Kendall/Hunt Publishing Company; ISBN: 078728405X ... which can also be
    used for other research papers.

    ref=sr_1_10_8/103-5884983-0566234

It has put things in a better perspective for me and allowed me to move
forward. I was feeling overwhelmed with information following my
    literature review.

I send my students to vivisimo.com as a base start point. Other sites
are recommended based on what exact types of research they are doing.
