Mingfang,
The Academy of Management (AoM) is generally recognized as the premier
academic management forum. Its journals are widely cited and prestigious.
I certainly realize that all other groups fill functions for various
constituencies many of which are perceived as useful by them. Though, on my
own, I have developed rules of thumb for allowing other groups to post here.
Mg-Ed-Dv is affiliated with (though not owned by) the Management Education
and Development Division of the Academy of Management and promotes the
Academy and its program vigorously. As founder/listmaster of Mg-Ed-Dv, On
my own, I have developed the personal policy of discouraging posting on this
list by groups with names that I personally judge to be overly similar or
that have reportedly sent threatening off-list messages to mg-ed-dvers in
past. I realize that this might be construed as somewhat idiosyncratic on
my part but I know some mg-ed-dvers have been confused in the past and I do
not want Mg-Ed-Dv to be a vehicle of confusion.
Again, I encourage all mg-ed-dvers to consider submitting either a paper or
a symposium proposal for our August 1999 Chicago meeting. Jim Stoner
