    Second announcement and call for proposals for the international
    research
    conference:
    'Learning Communities and Assessment Cultures: Connecting Research with
    Practice'

    The conference will be of interest to educational practitioners and
    researchers in compulsory and post-compulsory education (including
    higher
    education, further education, adult and lifelong learning).

    Venue: Longhirst Hall, University of Northumbria, Newcastle upon Tyne,
    UK

    Dates: 28-30 August 2002

    Plus:
    27 August - Pre-conference seminar on portfolio assessment (see Special
    Interest Groups at: www.earli.eu.org)

    The Conference is jointly organised by the EARLI Special Interest Group
    for
    Assessment and Evaluation and the School of Education, University of
    Northumbria.

    Key themes:
    Assessment for Learning,
    Evaluating Assessment Practices
    Changing Assessment in Practice.

    Proposals are welcome in the following areas:
    Formative assessment, Self peer and co-assessment;
    Performance assessment, Portfolio assessment;
    Quality and validity, Inclusive assessment:
    Implementation strategies;
    Conceptions of learning and assessment, Politics and ideology of
    assessment;
    E-learning and e-assessment,
    Large-scale testing & assessment.

    The DEADLINE for submission of proposals is 30 March 2002.
