Rhonda -
for what it's worth, I asked for and got the [long] excerpt. I
looked at some of the stuff in there, and I think it's interesting for the
non-assertive. Perhaps that may be mostly women; I concluded my wife
certainly didn't need it. In our house, (not necessarily elsewhere)
perhaps I'm the one in need of it? :-)
Anyhow, sometimes we need to be willing to take a risk with
something that seems interesting to us. If we're assertive enough. we
certainly can take care of junk mail - just as we do at home. If we don't
want it, dump it!
Someone else inquired about source of doctorate - I'm not
particularly concerned with credentials; what counts is whether material
is interesting, not where someone earned their doctorate (or whether it
might have been honorary). Some are even conferred with position; some
religious denomations call their preachers and/or their organists Dr.
whether one was ever awarded or not.
When I was earning my doctorate, at BU students were always
calling me Professor even though I was an instructor; during the last year
when I taught at UNH both students and secretaries insisted on conferring
the doctorate although not then earned. I gave up and let them say what
they wished.
Who really cares?
