    The workshop is held immediately before the WAM meeting.

    WESTERN CASEWRITERS WORKSHOP

    Thursday, March 25, 1999: 7:30 - 5:00

    Western Casewriters Association presents a full day developmental workshop
    for both new and experienced casewriters.

    7:30 - 8:15 Breakfast and welcome: Ann Feyerherm, Pepperdine
    University, President; Asbjorn Osland, George Fox University, Program Chair

    8:15 - 11:15 Case critique sessions: Casewriters will present their
    cases in small groups in a "roundtable" format and receive a critique from
    their peers. All pre-registered participants will receive a set of cases
    for review and discussion.

    Note: The Center for East Asian Business at Loyola Marymount University
    will announce the winners of a competition for the best case submitted on
    an aspect of business in East Asia.

    11:15 - 12:00 "The convergence on decision-focused teaching cases: have
    we gone too far?" by Craig Lundberg, Cornell University

    12:00 - 1:15 Luncheon

    1:15 -2:00 "Cases and the new technology: how to write and teach an
    interactive, online case" by Anne T. Lawrence, San Jose State University

    2:00 - 2:45 "Special challenges of developing cases for the
    intelligence and military communities" by Col. Thomas W. Shreeve,
    Casewriter for the Central Intelligence Agency

    2:45 - 3:00 Break

    3:00 - 4:00 "Building a course around a single case company: the
    experiences of the University of Idaho's integrated business core
    curriculum faculty teams" by professors Steven W. Pharr, John Lawrence, &
    Linda Morris, U. of Idaho

    4:00 - 5:00 Business Meeting: All members are invited to help plan the
    2000 meeting and to elect officers for the year 2001. The Western
    Casewriters Association (WCA) is the western regional affiliate of the
    North American Case Research Association (NACRA). All WAM members are
    welcome.
