Apologies to the readers. After I replied to Ruth Axelrod's question I
looked at the post and discovered it was not spell checked. This is the same
reply and it has been spell checked.

Ruth Axelrod asked the question about an instrument that measures emotional
intelligence but others may also find the information below helpful.

Back in 1996 my company participated in research to gather data for an
instrument developed by Ruven Bar-On. Reuven was at one time in the US and
knows Dan Goleman. He moved to Israel and continued his work on the EQ-i
The Emotional Quotient Inventory. After a couple of years of data
collection the EQ-i was made available for use by consumers. The contact
firm I know of is Multi-Health Systems and they are located in Toronto and
North Tonawanda, New York. A contact number for the US is 1 800 456 3003.
I called to verify the number. I have not used the inventory in my practice
but collected data for the database and studies that were being conducted.
I believe the instrument and manual are available for purchase. You can
contact the firm through the number listed in here.
