I am updating some training documentation on Business and Project
Planning. Part of this program contains some basic definitions of the
language use in business and project planning.
My goal is to keep the language as simple as possible.
These are my draft definitions. I would welcome any comments or
improvement suggestions.
What is a plan?
For the purposes of this programme, a plan is defined as the
understanding needed to proceed with the achievement of a desired
situation. A plan can be a visual diagram or written information or a
combination of both. A plan is usually physical document, but in some
instances (for some people) a plan may be an achievement solution
contained in the mind. A complete plan will describe the desired outcome
plus the chosen achievement strategy.
What is a Plan Chart?
What is strategy?
There seem to be as many definitions of strategy as there are
authorities on the topic. For this module, we will use a very simple
definition. A strategy is a design or explanation of how a person or
organization intends to approach the achievement of desired situation.
What does the word 'strategic' mean?
The term strategic also has many definitions. For this module, we will
keep it simple by saying that the term strategic refers to aspects of
strategy or positioning that are considered important to overall
success.
