The Conference on Value Inquiry has a history of accepting submissions
representing disciplinary, inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary
perspectives on topics about 'value'. Each year a particular theme for the
conference is selected by the program coordinator. In 1996, for example, the
theme was Inherent and Instrumental Values, in '97, the conference's silver
anniversary theme was Values in Business, and in '98 the theme was
Practical and Theoretical Foundations of Value. The 27th Conference has
selected the theme: Twentieth-Century Values. Areas of investigation for
this year's conference include but are not limited to: Social, Moral,
Political Values, the Teaching of Values, Values and Technology, Values and
the Professions, Values and the new Genetics, and Aesthetic Values. Of
particular interest are papers that discuss dilemmas and conflicts of values
that have arisen as a result of social, political, scientific, and
technological developments in the twentieth century.
Paper submission guidelines: Papers should be limited to approximately 20
minutes of reading time, or roughly 3500 words. Two copies of a 750 word
abstract should be sent to Kenneth F.T. Cust at the address below or they
can be sent by email to

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACTS: February 15, 1999.
The Conference will be held at Central Missouri State University in
Warrensburg, MO. Warrensburg is located approximately 50 miles east of
Kansas City, MO. A variety of low cost accommodations will be available on
and nearby campus and transportation will be available to and from the
lodging sites and the Kansas City International Airport.
