Robert Birnbaum send me the post below for posting to horizonlist; it is
also appropriate for the management development list.

Dear Colleagues,
I am documenting the diffusion of management innovations in higher
education from about 1960 to the present(PPBS, ZBB, MBO, strategic
planning, TQM, BPR and Benchmarking), and I would be grateful for
your assistance.
1. Arguments and opinions about the values and effects of such
innovations in colleges and universities are easy to find; analyses
supported by qualitative or quantitative empirical evidence are in
short supply. If you are aware of the existence of such analyses, I
would deeply appreciate a citation.
2. What management innovations do you think are likely to be promoted
in the post-BPR/Benchmarking era? (These may be ideas being implemented
on your campus, or something you have read or heard about as the next
management trend). Citations, if available, would be welcome.
3. And speaking of item #2, has anyone ever heard of Just-In-Time
Governance? Citation?
Thanks for your assistance.
Bob
