    EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

July 1-5, 2002 in Ljubljana, Slovenia

"Experiential Learning: ethical and cultural dilemmas"

The 8th International Conference for Experiential Learning is going to
take place in the beautiful city of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia,
    from 1st to 5 July 2002.

The Republic of Slovenia is situated in Central Europe, where different
regions and climates meet: the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Carst and
the Pannonian Plain. It is a nation of two million inhabitants with a
distinctive and clear identity. This is a land of friendly people with
magnificent scenery of crystal clear mountain streams, rivers and lakes,
lush green forests, wine-growing districts, snow covered peaks and
    mineral water springs and spas.

    The conference will focus on:
    - The varying meanings of experiential learning in different contexts
    and cultures
    - The role of experiential learning in cross-cultural experiences
    - Ethical dilemmas in experiential education
    - Encouraging peace and environmental education through experiential
    learning
    - Validating the outcomes of experiential learning
    - Expanding access to education and the role of new technologies
    - The theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of experiential
    learning
    - Using research to foster creativity and improve the practice of
    experiential learning
    - The role of experiential learning in personal and social change and
    development.

    The participants:
This conference will bring together educators, practitioners, academics,
teachers, community, social and cultural activists, policy makers,
researchers, students, workplace trainers, trade unionists, therapists,
health workers, literacy teachers, government, business and community
leaders and others from around the world.

The conference itself will actively seek to encourage learning through
reflection, research, informal dialogue, networking, debate, exposure to
other contexts, cultures and the realities of the host country.

Contributions to the conference can be in many forms:
    Papers or
    Workshops
    Poster sessions

During the conference we will also have the opportunity to meet small
groups of people from rural parts of Slovenia, who have gathered in
study circles and are enhancing personal and local development.
