Teaching Professor Position in Human Resource
    Management/Organizational
    Behavior
Robert H. Smith School of Business
University of Maryland, College Park, MD

The Management and Organization Faculty invite applications for a
non-tenured teaching and service faculty position. The position is for a
nine-month contract beginning Fall 2002. The position represents an
ongoing need in the department, and the incumbent will be eligible for a
long-term renewable contract. Currently over 15 individuals serve as
Teaching Professors in the R.H. School of Business, on 1-5 year
contracts depending upon experience and preferences. Candidates will be
responsible for teaching 3-4 undergraduate and MBA level courses per
semester in human resource management and organizational behavior.

Candidates must possess an earned doctorate in human resource management
or organizational behavior (or a closely related field) and have 3+
years experience in classroom teaching. Evidence of a strong track
record and excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate
levels is essential. Additional consideration will be given to
candidates who can provide evidence of teaching breadth (e.g., graduate
vs. undergraduate, class size, subject matter). Preference will be
given to candidates with a proven track record of high quality MBA
teaching, and who can immediately contribute to the School's expanding
MBA programs at Washington DC, Shady Grove, and College Park. The
successful candidate will also have service responsibilities such as
undergraduate and graduate advising, curriculum redesign, school and
departmental committees, career advising and placement, etc. Applicants
will not be evaluated on the basis of their research, and there are no
expectations of research productivity for re-appointment. The
successful candidate will, however, have access to most of the research
resources of the School and University. Salary range is commensurate
    with qualifications.

Applicants must send: (1) a current vita, (2) numeric course evaluations
and summary information about student ratings for recently taught
undergraduate and graduate courses, (3) a statement of teaching
    philosophy,
    (4) sample course syllabi, and (5) three letters of recommendation.
Applications and related materials must be received by February 27, 2002
    for full consideration.

The University of Maryland subscribes to a policy of equal employment
opportunity, and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant
because of race, age, sex, color, disability, national origin, or
political affiliation. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business has programs ranked in the top 30
nationally at both the undergraduate and MBA levels. The Human
Resources undergraduate program was ranked #10 in the nation by US News
& World Report, Fall 2001. Graduate and undergraduate business programs
are located in College Park, Baltimore, and Shady Grove, MD and
Washington DC. The campus benefits from a thriving high-tech industry in
the Baltimore-Washington-Northern Virginia region, access to a rich
