    Hi,

I'm back about repitition. My point was NOT to stand up for repitition
(meaning repeating over and over again right now, tonight), but that it is
important to do something long enough and enough times OVER TIME to become
    good at it.

No, I didn't start music lessons because I loved to play music (or loved
repition), but to get over my fear of being a beginner and not doing things
perfectly. I studied at first with great frustration and dislike.

My learning has been more about life than about piano. After a year and a half
of torture and agony, I am beginning to love it.

I haven't gone through one classical piece even once without mistakes, but I
look forward to playing it 26 times (not in one day or even 26 days)
perfectly. I will allow as much time as that takes. My point was that learning
sometimes takes time, not that I relish repitition.

I was saying simply that some things take a long time of doing it many times
before it is done well. You probably gave playing guitar some time before you
    were good at it.

Regrettable is your repetition of "repitition."

A pedantic attitude may well be just tolerable in a one on one situation
where you love the Pedant in question but where it gets exposed to a
whole community it descends into the realms of the Global Put-Down. This
isn't being caring, this is just bigheadedness - wanting to be clever in
    front of the girls.

I can only hope that you meant this in jest but didn't bother to add the
    obligatory smiley face.

So maybe we should forgive Leon. Acept that it was just a miztake,
arfta al thts hooow our langwage evolvvved.

Thanks for your tolerance. I guess I should have addressed one-on-one. Is
it pedantic to expect spelling to be correct, especially in this era of
spell checkers? Typos occur in the haste of these communications; constant
error needs to be pointed out, else they pass and become habitual. It may
seem pompous to say this, but I love (as colleagues) all on this list and
others I belong to. I certainly meant no offense. (I don't make smiley
faces -- to me they smack of Dilbertism. But, to each his/her own.)
