  • 1.  International Conference

Charlie Wankel, ever sensitive to our international members and friends, has
asked me to clarify to the list the track I'm chairing for the upcoming ICAM
meeting in Baton Rouge. I had indicated "OB Track Chair" beneath my
signature in the earlier note, however I probably should have spelled out
"Organizational Behavior" (OB) and also clarified in the content of that
message that it's the "Organizational Behavior Track" that I'm chairing. I
apologize for any misunderstanding that I may have caused, particularly for
our international members who may not be familiar with the acronym "OB" that
many of us take for granted. I truly had not even thought about it until
    Charlie pointed this out.

But, having now clarified that it's the Organizational Behavior Track, I
also take a broad view of OB, particularly for an international conference.
I am far more concerned with the quality of the work itself than the extent
to which that work conforms to what we normally place within the narrow
boundary of OB. I'm not looking for papers just on motivation, job design,
leadership, or other exclusively OB topics. While those topics are fine, so
are boundary-spanning and interdisciplinary topics that draw from economics,
anthropology, political science, history, and literature. I'm looking for
challenging, insightful, and thought provoking papers, either empirical or
conceptual, that speak to a broad range of issues about human behavior at
work. Consequently, I'll be glad to consider just about anything for the OB
track that is well researched and well written and addresses some important
aspect of human behavior at work.

Finally, while I'm writing, I should also clarify that this is the 6th
Annual International Conference on Advances in Management (ICAM), and the
meeting will be held at the Baton Rouge Hilton, Baton Rouge, Louisianna,
    from July 7-10, 1999.
