Under Australian law when anyone publishes on the net they are liable;
lawyers, academics, candlestick makers makes no difference. I don't know
about US law but I suspect the same. The real issue is that when you
publish on email you do so internationally and in jurisdictions that you
do not fully understand. There is a case proceeding in France presently
concerning English language advertisements on the net that allegedly
transgress French law. In my state, New South Wales, our newly appointed
President of the Law Society is investigating just this issue. If you
wish I shall sned you his paper if he publishes.
By the way, well said about private chatter. I transgressed as did
others. enthusiasm for a new list is my defense.
