    Call for Papers: "Managing Quality in e-Operations"

    For Inclusion in the Special Issue of The TQM Magazine

    The allure of e-commerce has primarily been in its ability to
    increase the sales volume of a company. While there have been many
    success stories surrounding online ordering of goods and services,
    the full promise of real-time, as-it-happens order fulfilment has not
    been widely achieved. On the surface, e-commerce seems solely driven
    by technology, but achieving business success on the Internet is a
    cross-functional involving all departments and personnel. As the
    quality movement begins and ends with customer satisfaction in
    products and services, e-businesses should deliver value and quality
    to their customers. Managing continuous improvements in operations'
    processes therefore will continue to drive best practices for e-
    businesses. Continuous process management is the cornerstone that
    ensures not only key processes to order fulfilment are effectively
    managed and continuously improved, but also perpetuate a culture of a
    successful buyer-supplier relationship based on velocity and
    visibility.

    Papers are sought to explore the redefining of managing continuous
    improvement in operations management theory and practice as it
    relates to a vast range of businesses, industries or technologies
    associated with the e-business era. Papers that are conceptual or
    empirical, descriptive or prescriptive, and case-study-based or
    industry-wide-based are welcome. Contributed papers may deal with,
    but are not limited to:

    * Capacity Planning
    * Continuous Improvement
    * Customer Relationship Management
    * Enterprise Resource Management
    * Front-to-Back-End Integration
    * Order Fulfilment
    * Procurement
    * Product Returns Handling
    * Inventory Management
    * Supply-Chain Management and Partnering

    This call for papers invites the submission of original manuscripts.
    Authors should not submit papers previously published, or under
    consideration for publication elsewhere. Articles for this call are
    expected to be "academic" in terms of rigour, but "managerial" in
    terms of readability and practical content. Papers are invited from
    both research and practice. Prospective authors should submit three
    copies of the article to the Guest Editor by 11 February 2002. Full
    papers should be 4000-6000 words in length although shorter papers,
    particularly from practitioner authors, will be considered. This call
    for papers employs a double blind peer review process. You may find
    other submission guidelines by visiting:
