RATH DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
Price College of Business
The University of Oklahoma
The Management Division in the Michael F. Price College of Business at the
University of Oklahoma is currently recruiting doctoral candidates to fill
the 2001 Rath Doctoral Fellowship in Strategic Management for . The Rath
Doctoral Fellowship in Strategic Management has been funded from a gift by
the Rath Foundation in Janesville, WI and is intended to attract a
management doctoral student with strong research and teaching potential.
The Fellowship offers a competitive financial package offering $20,000 a
year for four years plus other University benefits. The financial package
includes a 12 month assistantship and small scholarship.
The Ph.D. program in management provides a strong foundation for research
and teaching competencies in the academic areas of the Division of
Management. Students are prepared for doing rigorous research by learning
research methodology and current research approaches and techniques that can
be applied to management and related problems. In addition, current theory
and application of concepts to pragmatic managerial issues are both
important parts of the program. A particular strength of the management
program is close interaction between the students and faculty. The Rath
Doctoral Fellowship in Strategic Management provides the flexibility for
students to pursue areas of study broadly related to the interests of the
strategic management including but not limited to areas such as
entrepreneurship, international business, natural environment issues,
organization theory, or social issues management. The objective of the
fellowship is to enhance the student's ability to compete in the national
and international professional market for faculty positions upon graduation.
The University of Oklahoma, located in Norman, is a comprehensive research
university offering a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate programs
and extensive continuing education and public service programs. Norman is a
community of about 80,000, located twenty miles south of Oklahoma City, and
is primarily a college town with good schools and a relatively low cost of
living.
Admission to the Ph.D. program is available to students with demonstrated
aptitude for, and interest in, advanced research in business. Admission
decisions are based on a number of factors: undergraduate/graduate
grade-point-average, grade-point-average in the last 60 hours, GMAT score,
employment history, letters of recommendation, and the personal statement of
goals. As a guideline to applicants, a total GMAT score of 640 and
grade-point-average of 3.65 (on a 4.00 scale) would be representative of
students currently in the program. International applicants must have an
official TOEFL score of 550 or higher and should submit official TSE scores.
The application deadline for Fall 2001 matriculation is April 1, 2001 but
applicants are encouraged to apply earlier. For more information contact
