Griffith University Graduate School of Management (GSM), Australia, is
responsible for the MBAs; the Master of Technology Management (MTM) and
other postgraduate and post-experience courses. The GSM also aims to
facilitate research and continuing education. The appointee will be
responsible for overseeing the GSM's Masters and related award courses, and
possibly leading the development of other initiatives.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent; successful teaching experience
preferably in at least
one of the main MBA or MTM subject areas (that is, Accounting,
Communications, E-Commerce, Economics, Human Resources/Industrial Relations,
Information Systems, International Business,
Finance, Leadership, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour, Technology
Management and Strategic
Management) or a related area; an appropriate record of achievement in
academic research and
publication; and be able to earn the confidence of the GSM's stakeholders.
The position would primarily be based at the Gold Coast Campus, but would
also have an office
and some responsibilities at the Brisbane (Nathan) Campus. These campuses
are about 45
minutes apart in S.E. Queensland. Australia's third-largest city and premier
tourist destination
are in this beautiful area.
Conditions e.g. Salary, Superannuation
Associate Professor: AUD$72,115 to $79,449 per annum (Salary package
including 17% employer
superannuation contribution: AUD$ 84,375 to $ 92,955 per annum).
Professor: AUD$92,894 per annum (Salary package including 17% employer
superannuation contribution: AUD$108,686).
Salaries are currently under review. There are possibilities for some salary
packaging. A fully-maintained University vehicle will be provided for work
and personal use while the appointee is in the post Director, Masters
Courses.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. A PhD or equivalent;
2. Demonstrated experience and aptitude in teaching on MBA and/or MTM-type
courses or the
equivalent;
3. Demonstrated academic leadership.
4. An appropriate record of research and publication;
5. An ability to work with a wide range of academics efficiently and
effectively;
6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
7. Willingness to assume the position of Director (Dean) or Acting Director,
GSM, at some stage.
Desirable
8. Familiarity with and/or willingness to be involved in flexible delivery
of teaching.
9. The entrepreneurial qualities required to help the GSM perform as a
profit-centre;
10. Experience in marketing University fee-paying courses (degree and
non-award courses);
11. Ability to present a good public image to the communities the GSM
relates to locally,
nationally and internationally;
12. A history of successful research degree supervision and of mentoring the
research activities of junior staff members.
13. Practical experience in management or similar activities;
14. A drivers licence.
