Thanks very much to those who have expressed an opinion on this topic. This
information has been very useful as I have to make a critical decision on
the design of an e-Learning program.
I have come to the conclusion that (for the time being at least) it makes
sense to cater for both preferences.
I have been working on developing a template design that hopefully works for
both screen and hard copy use. Ideally, I would like to get to a situation
where the learner would read some or most of the material from their screen
and print out the pages that were useful to refer to later.
Items I have taken into consideration are font size and color, background
colors and texture, amount of text per page or frame and visual layout
balance.
If anyone is interested in seeing a sample of where I am so far, I have a
PDF file (about 300k) of the introduction to the program I am currently
developing. I would value any feedback. Particularly feedback on how well it
meets your personal learning style. Please e-mail me if you are interested.
Regards
Andrew Smith
