There seems to be a shift in many of the Quality Awards worldwide towards
the calling themselves Business Excellence Models.
I have had trouble finding research that supports the assertion that these
models are associated in a causal way with sustainable competitive
advantage. Yet such claims are made by promoters of such models, at least
in their training material.
Are there good panel based studies out there? Are these models
Universalistic or contingent? If Universalistic why do some of the
different national models vary in weightings and definitions of some
dimensions? If contingent then what are the contingencies?
