The Centre for the Management of Environmental Resources (CMER) at INSEAD,
    the
international Business School, is looking for researchers to join the team
    at
our Fontainebleau (France) campus working on assessing and managing
    corporate
sustainability. CMER, a think tank and research centre in the field of
    indus-
trial ecology, environmental strategy, corporate sustainability, and social
responsibility seeks researchers to direct and undertake applied research,
    and
to create case material for use in MBA and executive teaching. This work
    takes
place within three new research projects.

    - Developing A Management Cockpit for Corporate Sustainability: This project
    aims
at integrating environmental and social sustainability indicators in the
    Balanced
Scorecard, a controlling tool used by industry for strategy communication
    and
assessment. The project includes a literature review and an analysis of
    industry
cases. We co-operate with partners in the U.S., Germany, and Switzerland.

    - Explaining the Correlation of Ecological and Stock Performance: Some
    research
suggests a positive correlation between a firm's environmental and stock
    per-
formance. How can this correlation be explained? What are major value
    drivers?
A typology of management approaches will be developed. The project is
    carried
out in co-operation with ARESE, France's sustainability rating agency.

    - Reporting Corporate Social Responsibility: Increasingly firms publish
    accounts
for corporate citizenship and social responsibility. What can the nascent
    social
reporting discipline learn form the experiences with environmental
    reporting in
the 1990s and the social balancing debates of the 1970s?

Ideally we are looking for candidates with the following profiles:

    a) Management or engineering master or PhD degree with environmental
    management background
    b) Good knowledge in corporate finance, controlling, and/or econometrics
    c) Strong practical experience in an industry or consultancy context
    d) Excellent written and spoken English essential
    e) Interest in international work and strengthening the Asian dimension of
    CMER's research

Applicants are expected to start as of February/March 2001 for the academic
    year.
The contract might be renewed for the next academic period. (Applicants
    wanting
to start later than February 2001 may also apply as further projects might
    be
approved over the next months.) The salary is competitive and follows
    academic
qualification and experience. An excellent benefits package offers
    complimentary
health insurance and a contribution to relocation expenses. INSEAD provides
    a
significant opportunity for those interested in continuing their career in
