A friend of mine, on the other hand, once got rid of a number of useless
reports as follows:
He continued to do the reports, but stopped sending them. If someone up the
line called and asked, "Where's the X report," he said, "Gee, it must have
gotten lost in the mail," made a copy and mailed it off. After six months,
he stopped doing any reports than no one had asked for. . . .
Silly requirements do take on a life of their own in business, and it often
takes creativity to make them go away.
