Frank Bell relates, "After six months, he stopped doing any reports than no one
had asked for. . . . Silly requirements do take on a life of their own in
business, and it often
takes creativity to make them go away."
Perhaps this person was in charge of updating the maps of Belgrade and stopped
updating them because nobody had asked for a map for six months. Some time
later, we whack the Chinese Embassy.
Not all reporting is as stupid as frontline employees think it is. (And not all
remains useful forever. That's what reviews are for).
