The market for these types of training programs is expected to grow
between 8.5 and 9 percent annually over the next decade according to
informed sources in the I.T. Training Organizations.

For more detailed information about these growing markets, email me and
I will send you further details.

Dorothy posts T&D extra on every list I'm on, and is permanently
auto-deleted. Do we really need MORE copies, along with illegal
    attachments as in this message?

    THIS WEEK:

    2. Learning by the Numbers
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    NEWS BITES

    * According to a new report from Simba Information, "Corporate
Training Markets, 1999," the corporate training market will grow at a
compound annual rate of 8.6 percent from 1999-2001. Information
technology companies are expected to garner an average market share of

61 percent through 2000, and soft-skills trainers will account for 39
    percent during the same period.
    (Net connection: http://www.simbanet.com)

    * If you surf the Web regularly, you'll want to review results of a
new privacy-policy study that's sparking debate between online privacy

groups and an online industry that wants to regulate itself. Websites
collect personal information about you--some voluntary, some not--and
you should know how they use that data. Here are some of the study
numbers from Mary Culnan of Georgetown University's McDonough School
of Business: Of top commercial Websites surveyed, 93 percent collect
at least one type of personal identifying information from online
visitors. Sixty-six percent post at least one type of privacy
disclosure. Of those sites that collect personal information and post
privacy disclosures, 49 percent list contact data for questions or
complaints. An astounding 34 percent of the Websites surveyed do not
    post privacy disclosures.
    (Net connection: http://www.msb.edu/faculty/culnanm/gippshome.html)

    * Sony Education has announced its 1999 Sony Symphony LLC-8000
Learning System Grant. State-certified schools and colleges with
language programs and a need for an electronic language-learning
system are eligible to apply for a Sony LLC-8000 system. The
application deadline is June 30, 1999. For further details, contact
Sony Education Systems, 1 Sony Drive, Mail Drop #3E8, Park Ridge, NJ

workplace facts and stats compiled by Talent Alliance of Morristown,

    * Employees are more likely to stay with an organization in which they

    are continually learning.
    * The percentage of people who say they will change jobs within a year

is less for employees who receive job-related training (14%) than for
    those who don't (24%).
    * The Internet is projected to surpass all other technologies for
learning delivery by the year 2000.
    * Fortune 500 companies spend an annual average of $1,300 to $1,500
    per employee for training.
