Library Time: Information Literacy in Management Education:
Learning Through Practical Applications
Monday, August 7
4:10 p.m. - 5:20 p.m.
Royal York Hotel; British Columbia Room
Presenters: Judi S. Strauss, Benedictine University
Razelle Frankl, Rowan University
The challenge for management educators today is to teach competencies in the
skill of information literacy: the ability to find information on the
internet, assess its quality, and effectively use it for a specific purpose.
This symposium will focus on providing you with strategies, ideas, and
practical tools for incorporating information literacy into your curriculum.
Through this interactive session, we will share with you our experiences
and reflections gained from teaching information literacy at both the
graduate and undergraduate level. What kind of collaborative planning needs
to be done in order to provide students with positive library sessions?
What research skills and information literacy techniques do students
develop? How do these new skills assist students in their future academic
and professional careers? What type of problems do students encounter?
Join us at the symposium. There will be time for everyone to "log-on" to
information literacy.
