If you are looking for something fum to do Sunday night at the Academy
meeting, why not join the memebers of the Conflict Management Division for
an evening of great food and music at Buddy Guy's club, "Legends", a
world-renowned blues club located near the conference site in the heart of
Chicago.
A legend himself, Buddy Guy founded "Legends" in 1989, quickly developing a
reputation as the nation's premier blues nightclub. Not only has Buddy
sold out the house every year, but so have Koko Taylor, The Fabulous
Thunderbirds, Van Morrison, Willie Dixon, Albert Collins, David Bowie, Lou
Rawls, Dr. John, and Greg Allman. As a blues club, Legends is distinguished
for it's innovative scheduling of local, national, and international blues
musicians.
Our evening will begin with a cash bar at 6:00 and a cajun-style soul food
buffet starting at 7:00. While feasting on BBQ chicken, garlic mashed
potatoes, collard greens, cajun cole slaw, cornbread and tossed salad, we
will be entertained by an outstanding local acoustic blues band. Vegetarian
options are available, please call Martin Davidson (804/924-4483) or Debra
Connelley (716/645-2235) for more information. Since Sunday night is
traditionally a slow one at the academy, you might want to stick around for
a while to hear their feature show at 9. Who knows, Eric Clapton might even
drop by (this sort of thing really does happen at Buddy Guy's!)
The cost is only $40, but you must pre-register by sending your
check to Debra Connelley, 270 Jacobs Management Center, State University of
New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York 14260. Please make the checks
payable to Conflict Management Division.
