In my haste to criticize the research in "Whats the Difference" I should have
pointed up the more comprehensive and thorough review by Brown and Wack at
horizon.unc.edu/TS/reading/1999-05.asp
The "no significant difference" report by Russell at tenb.mta.ca/phenom
has all the same weaknesses.
Unfortunately the apparent conclusions from these supposed meta-analyses is
further confusing the critical issues in trying to understanding the real
impact of IT on higher ed--and particularly business schools.
I would refer you to a recent series of essays "Dancing with the Devil" from
Jossey-Bass and Privateer's article-"Academic Technology and the future of
higher education" in the Journal of Higher Ed Jan/Feb, 1999 - to gain a
valuable perspective on this important topic.
