Hi - may I suggest another approach? The reason I suggest that is that it
takes time for textbooks to be written organizaed, edited, and printed,
even if everything goes according to plan. Colleagues who have written
and published books tell me that rarely happens, and that delays are
endemic. But, by the time you and your students get the book, so-called
current issues won't be current.
Far better to search out the various journals for current issues, to
collect that are appropriate to the concerns you see, and to arrange for
students to have access to them in some way. I know that a "book" is much
neater and tidy, but you can make it happen and not violate the copyright
laws.
Academy of Management Journals (AMJ, AMR, and AME) according to their
copyright indications generally give permission for instructors in
non-profit institutions to copy without notice, and I'm sure that other
journals will be sympathetic. And, generally, you can place a single copy
of an article in your library(ies) where students can copy it themselves.
(I'm not a lawyaer, but I've received this advice before. It does not
necessarily apply to non-USA situations.)
Other journals I'd check depending on what you're interested in include:
HBR, CMR, the Economist, Journal of Management, Business & Society,
Business Horizons, Group & Organziation Management, SMJ, and Proceedings
of the Academy of Management. Also New York Times, Wall Street Journal,
Washington Post, Manchester Guardian, Financial Times, Christian Science
Monitor. Also the www, which must be used with caution, since almost
anything can be posted without any review whatsoever.
To say it a different way, trying to find a text which describes current
issues describes an impossibility. Even articles will lag real current
issues, but will be closer to reality.
