Hi all - enclosed is information about the Colloquium. You too can
participate. For those of you that receive duplicates; apologies!


Attention - Case Writers!! and Prospective Case Writers

Plan to attend and participate in the CASE CRITIQUE COLLOQUIUM at
the Academy in Chicago. A panel of journal editors and experienced
case writers will show you how to improve already good cases. We'll
be in Saturday, August 7, from one to five, in the Field Room, Hyatt
West, Floor 3.

You will get the most out of this very popular professional
development session if you preregister for the session with me.
I'll send you the book of cases for advance preparation. Tell me
your contact information, including your mailing address for the
next week or two.

I'd like to be there, although the 7th looks like a crowded day. If you
have an extra set of the case materials, I'd love to look at them, and
attend what parts I can.

I'll be in New Jersey for the rest of this week, then back in Canada until

Would you like to present your case at the Academy of Managmeent in
Toronto, this Summer? We're still accepting cases for possible inclusion
in the EIGHTH CASE CRITIQUE COLLOQUIUM - SATURDAY AFTERNOON - 5 AUGUST, 2000

This Colloquium is designed to help novice and experienced case writers
write and improve their cases, for use in the classroom, and also to make
them ready for publishing. Presented cases will appear in a Session
Proceedings.

Submit five copies of your case to reach Tim Edlund by Tuesday,
4 April 2000, including your TN. Cases may deal with any field of
management. We look for cases which still need improvement. Submission of
your case implies that you will attend the meeting and present the case.
Cases are blind reviewed before acceptance by at least two reviewers.
Authors should not be identified in the case or the TN except on a cover
sheet, or in a first page footnote. Submissions from outside North America
should be sent by air or FAX; a single copy will suffice; replies will be
by FAX or e-mail as appropriate. Do not send e-mail attachments.

Requirements: Cases should describe real organizations; may be disguised;
and should not include the author's analysis, which should be in the TN.
TNs provide users with a brief case description, appropriate course(s) for
use, teaching objectives, teaching approaches, teaching/assignment questions
and suggested question answers. A discussion section is helpful, and may
include an author's extended analysis. Outcomes, if known, may also be
included.
